Description : Founded in 1963, The Chinese University of Hong Kong offers around 50 undergraduate programmes with majority of them taught in English. We have been ranked 38 in the world’s top university 2007 by Times Higher Education Supplement. Over 10 scholarships funded by the Hong Kong Government as well as private donations are available for international students commencing full-time undergraduate studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in September 2009. The value of the scholarships may vary from HK$80,000 to HK$125,000 per year.

The Republic of Cyprus is offering five (5) full scholarships of 12-months duration to study for the attainment of the University of Nicosia Master in Business Administration Programme for the academic year 2009-2010. Eligible candidates are citizens of Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Application Procedure
In order to submit an application for scholarship, the applicant must attain an official endorsement by his/her country`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs by completing the Endorsement Form, which must be submitted along with the application form (detailed instructions on the endorsement procedure are included in the endorsement form). The Asian Development – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) offers opportunities to talented individuals from its developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies. This scholarship is funded by the Government of Japan.
To be eligible to apply for the ADB-JSP, candidates must receive an unconditional offer from one of the following programs at the University of Sydney:
* Master of Economics
* Master of Commerce
* Master of International Business
* Master of Transport Management
* Master of International Public Health
* Master of Engineering
The Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan. The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for well qualified citizens of the Bank’s Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to undertake postgraduate studies which will assist the economic and social development of their countries.
Who is eligible?
Citizens of developing member countries of the Bank (see olarship_program.shtml#sel”>list and selection criteria below) who have a minimum of two years’ working experience and who are eligible for admission to the following degree programs at the University of Sydney:
* Master of Economics

* Have a four year Engineering degree with above average grades from a recognized university, if applying for the Master of Engineering.
* Provide evidence of two years work experience and the latest income tax return (an official letter from an employer may be accepted in cases where an income tax return is not available).
The University of Sydney Application Processing Fee (APF) will be waived if you lodge your ADB-JSP application form together with your admission to the University application form.
Your ADB-JSP application will only be considered, if you receive an official offer of admission to one of the above degree programs prior to the ADB-JSP application deadline. If your entry is subject to English language proficiency or academic documention, you must provide all required documents before the ADB-JSP scholarship deadline.

Selection criteria
* Qualifications of the candidate.
* Applicants with less than two years of work experience will not be selected.
* Preference to women candidates.
* Preference to applicants with lesser financial capacity.
* The Program will, in principle, not support applicants who have previously studied abroad.
* The Program will, in principle, not support applicants who are pursuing a second master’s degree or a second doctorate degree.
* Candidates who are applying in a participating academic institution in their own country may not be selected.
* Diversification of nationality in the overall Program as well as at each participating academic institution will be considered.
Duration of scholarship
The scholarship period is one year. An appropriate extension for the second or third year of study is conditional on the scholar’s maintaining a satisfactory level of performance determined by the University of Sydney and following approval by the ADB.
Total number of scholarships
Scholarships are awarded, each year, as vacancies arise following completion of studies or withdrawal of scholars. Less than three ADB-JSP scholarships may be awarded in each round of application.
Competition for an ADB-JSP scholarship is extremely strong. Only candidates who receive an unconditional offer of admission will be considered for the ADB-JSP scholarship.

Selection criteria
* Qualifications of the candidate.
* Applicants with less than two years of work experience will not be selected.
* Preference to women candidates.
* Preference to applicants with lesser financial capacity.
* The Program will, in principle, not support applicants who have previously studied abroad.
* The Program will, in principle, not support applicants who are pursuing a second master’s degree or a second doctorate degree.
* Candidates who are applying in a participating academic institution in their own country may not be selected.
* Diversification of nationality in the overall Program as well as at each participating academic institution will be considered.
Duration of scholarship
The scholarship period is one year. An appropriate extension for the second or third year of study is conditional on the scholar’s maintaining a satisfactory level of performance determined by the University of Sydney and following approval by the ADB.
Total number of scholarships
Scholarships are awarded, each year, as vacancies arise following completion of studies or withdrawal of scholars. Less than three ADB-JSP scholarships may be awarded in each round of application.
Competition for an ADB-JSP scholarship is extremely strong. Only candidates who receive an unconditional offer of admission will be considered for the ADB-JSP scholarship.

[USA] Dr. Calvin Martin Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund
The Dr. Calvin Martin Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund Inc, a non-profit charitable organization, was named in memory of its founder Dr. Calvin Martin. His passion was a love for education. He fulfilled this by demonstrating his pedological skills as a teacher and administrative skills as a New York City Public School Principal.His career allowed him to develop a unique perspective on the American Education System.
The mission of the Scholarship Trust Fund is to educate African American Male Students through a scholar and mentorship program, to achieve higher academic excellence.
The scholarships are available to students who demonstrate high academic achievements in high schools, colleges/and or universities. They must be born in the USA and reside in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The amount of $100,000 will be awarded each year in scholarships. A maximum of $10,000 will be awarded each year per student who is attending a four-year college or university program/or graduate school.
Applicants must choose a major in the following field: education, business, law, medicine, architecture, engineering and creative arts.
Applicants must be unmarried and between the ages of sixteen (16), through twenty-five (25) years old. (Please note that these scholarships are available to African American males only).
General Information
The deadline for submission of scholarship applications is May 15th. Applications can be obtained through a counselor in the Financial Aid Office of your learning institution. All applications and submitted materials become the property of Dr. Calvin Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund and will not be returned. Applicants may be born in any of the fifty, (50) states, but must demonstrate legal residence in the Tri-State of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut at the time of applying for scholarships. This program offers scholarships for specialization, master and research studies at postgraduate level to foreign citizens from countries of the Caribbean Basin. Foreigners interested in participating in the scholarships program (fall 2009) must submit the required application documents to the diplomatic mission of their country in Colombia.
If your country has no diplomatic representation in Colombia, the applicaton must be sent through the embassy or consulate of Colombia in your country. It will be then forwarded to the International Office of the Colombian Institute of Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad, Mariano Ospina Pérez - ICETEX in Bogota DC, Colombia.

Call for Proposals for the Pilot Project: Future Trilateral Cooperation within the scope of cooperation in higher education between Germany, Brazil, and the countries of lusophone Africa
What are the project goals?
The German Academic Exchange Service aims to strengthen cooperation in higher education between Germany, Brazil and countries of lusophone Africa. To support the mobility of junior scientists from lusophone Africa as well as Brazilian and German lecturers and scientists, such Trilateral Cooperation will be initiated by means of a Pilot Project in 2009. A six-month research stay at German universities will be offered for African Master's and PhD candidates. At the same time Brazilian and African university teachers and scientists will get the opportunity to carry out their own research projects for up to three months and will supervise and support the young African scientists at participating German universities. Furthermore short-term lectureships will be funded for German scientists in the relevant target regions. In 2010, the Pilot Project will lead to extensive cooperation between the universities and scientists taking part in the project.
What is funded?
1. Short-term Research Scholarships for African Master's and PhD Candidates
The monthly scholarship instalment for short-term research stays at German universities amounts to a maximum of 1,000 euros over a period of up to six months, plus an additional travel allowance.
2. Research Stays for University Teachers and Scientists from Abroad
The monthly scholarships for university teachers and scientists from Brazil and lusophone Africa, respectively, amount to a maximum of 2,240 euros and are dependent on the applicant's academic status. A travel allowance is also provided. Funding is limited to a maximum stay of three months at a German university. In addition to their own research activities, the scientists will also support and supervise the African short-term scholarship recipients within the project.
3. Short-term Lectureships for German Scientists
Applications can be submitted for accommodation and subsistence costs of up to 2,137 euros (in Africa) and 2,600 euros (in Brazil) for short-term lectureships by German scientists in both target regions. In addition a travel allowance will be paid. The funding is limited to a term of one to three months.
4. Support and Supervision Funds for German universities
Upon application, German universities will receive flat-rate funding (amounting to 60 euros per month and scholarship recipient) to supervise and tutor the shortterm scholarship recipients within the scope of this project. If more short-term scholarship recipients (minimum of six) are accepted, the respective university may apply for more funding for tutorial means and resources.
5. Material and Organisation Costs
Universities that accept a minimum of six scholarship recipients may, within the scope of the Trilateral Cooperation scheme, apply for the funding of training workshops for lecturers, supervision, etc. Applications for 'Cooperation Workshops' are open to universities that clearly show a strong interest in a future Trilateral Cooperation Project. Funding of up to 10,000 euros per workshop can be approved.
Future cooperation between universities in Germany, Brazil, and lusophone Africa are to be initiated and/or structurally consolidated by combining the various mobility components. This initial seed funding is limited to the fiscal year 2009.
Application Deadline
The application deadline for short-term research scholarships, research stays, and short-term lectureships is 22 May 2009 (postal stamp). All necessary papers and documents must be included for consideration of the application. The studentship is collaborative in nature; each studentship involves supervisors from two of the White Rose Universities. The studentship commences full-time PhD study in September/October 2009 and is tenable for up to 3years, subject to satisfactory academic progress. The studentship provides academic fees at the UK/EU rate and an annual maintenance grant (£13,290 in Session 2009/10, to be increased in line with the standard research council maintenance grant). To be considered applicants should hold a 2i or better Bachelors degree in engineering or a related subject.
Details of project:
This project will investigate the role of material and texture in creating products that are both easy-to-use and desirable for older consumers, using the packaging and utensils encountered in the kitchen as a case study. This will explore three novel areas: balancing affective requirements against functional and ergonomic needs; the influence of environmental conditions on affective responses, and the use of different surface textures on different parts of a product to satisfy users varying requirements at different stages of use. The project will be carried out in three stages, involving work at both Leeds and York Universities:
1. Interview and observe users to determine their functional, ergonomic and affective requirements for packaging and utensils in the context of making a meal in the kitchen. This will be done through interviews and observational studies of users preparing a meal at the University of York's Responsive Home Lab.
2. Characterise material and surface properties of packaging and utensils in terms of affective responses.
Affective responses to the materials and textures used in the observational studies will be gathered at the University of Leeds' Affective Engineering lab. The properties of these materials and textures will be measured and characterised in terms of the affective responses that they evoke.
3. Propose and evaluate new combinations of material and texture for kitchen utensils and packaging which will improve performance against the identified requirements. The information gathered from the affective study will be used to propose new combinations of material and surface texture that offer an improved affective experience, which will be tested by creating prototype products and repeating the original observational study.

Details of studentship: White Rose Studentships arise from a special relationship between the three White Rose Universities - University of Leeds, University of Sheffield and University of York. The studentship is collaborative in nature; each studentship involves supervisors from two of the White Rose Universities. The studentship commences full-time PhD study in September/October 2009 and is tenable for up to 3years, subject to satisfactory academic progress. The studentship provides academic fees at the UK/EU rate and an annual maintenance grant (£13,290 in Session 2009/10, to be increased in line with the standard research council maintenance grant). To be considered applicants should hold a 2i or better Bachelors degree in engineering or a related subject.
Details of project:
This project will investigate the role of material and texture in creating products that are both easy-to-use and desirable for older consumers, using the packaging and utensils encountered in the kitchen as a case study. This will explore three novel areas: balancing affective requirements against functional and ergonomic needs; the influence of environmental conditions on affective responses, and the use of different surface textures on different parts of a product to satisfy users varying requirements at different stages of use. The project will be carried out in three stages, involving work at both Leeds and York Universities:
1. Interview and observe users to determine their functional, ergonomic and affective requirements for packaging and utensils in the context of making a meal in the kitchen. This will be done through interviews and observational studies of users preparing a meal at the University of York's Responsive Home Lab.
2. Characterise material and surface properties of packaging and utensils in terms of affective responses.
Affective responses to the materials and textures used in the observational studies will be gathered at the University of Leeds' Affective Engineering lab. The properties of these materials and textures will be measured and characterised in terms of the affective responses that they evoke.
3. Propose and evaluate new combinations of material and texture for kitchen utensils and packaging which will improve performance against the identified requirements. The information gathered from the affective study will be used to propose new combinations of material and surface texture that offer an improved affective experience, which will be tested by creating prototype products and repeating the original observational study.
Training provision for student
The student will be based in the University of Leeds, which provides a professional development scheme for all its postgraduate students to identify and meet their training needs.
