NJLA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: 2009

NJLA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: 2009
The New Jersey Library Association will award scholarships for the academic year 2009-10. These scholarships are offered for study leading to a graduate or postgraduate degree in librarianship. Awards are made on an evaluation of credentials and personal interviews with candidates. All awards are to be used for a graduate library education program that allows the graduate eligibility for a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate. Previous applicants and recipients are eligible to apply.

To consider any application, the Committee must have in hand all four parts of the application, each postmarked no later than February 9, 2009.

Your completed application form, notarized.
Your 150- to 250-word essay explaining your choice of librarianship as a profession.
Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (both graduate and under-graduate). Arrange for the transcripts to be send immediately, to allow for processing time in registrars’ offices.
Two letters of recommendation. You are responsible for obtaining two letters of reference from individuals in professional, business or educational fields. Recommendations should include specific statements on qualities such as character, personality, and work ability. You are responsible to see that these letters are postmarked no later than February 9, 2009.
